Description:
Abstract:
This is a point feature class that defines the center point for each Connecticut 1951-1952 aerial photograph. There are 2,023 total aerial photograph center points in this feature class. Of them, 1,027 represent photographs taken at a scale of 1:8000 and the remaining 966 of which represent photographs taken at a scale of 1:20000. Each center point for a photograph taken at a scale of 1:20000 represents a photograph covering 2.84 miles east-west by 2.84 miles north-south, covering a geographic area of approximately 8.1 square miles. Center points for photographs at a 1:8000 scale. Original prints of each photo were 9 7/8" x 9 7/8", with an image size of 9" x 9". 1:20000 aerial photographs overlap by approximately 1.6 miles, and 1:8000 aerial photographs overlap by approximately .93 miles. The photographs represented by each center point were originally taken by Robinson Aerial Surveys, Inc., for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Stabilization and Marketing Service between October 1951 and June 1952.
Purpose:
This data serves as a center point index for the set of 1951-1952 aerial photos for Connecticut. Links to digital historical aerial photography and associated metadata can be found in the GIS database.

Attribute_Accuracy_Report:
All attributes have valid values. Values are within defined domains. No rigid attribute accuracy tests were conducted.
Logical_Consistency_Report:
Point features conform to the following topological rules. Points are single part. There are no duplicate points. Points originating from the same layer [PROJECTCOD] do not overlap, however points originating from different and representing photographs at separate scales may overlap. Establishment of logical consistency was performed by the University of Connecticut Map and Geographic Information Center - MAGIC using USGS 1:24000 maps and visually comparing these maps to photo prints index in the University of Connecticut Map and Geographic Information Center - MAGIC collection to obtain the center points for these photographs. No automated procedures or tests were performed to guarantee desired topology other than visual inspection.
