Abstract:
The annotation layer represents specific locations (hydrography, cities, towns, physical features) from the USGS 1:24,000 topographic maps.
Purpose:
Annotation is a datalayer used for naming features typically found on a base map such as route and exit numbers, town and village centers, and the names of lakes, beaches, hills, and streams. Use this datalayer to label the roads and trails, named lakes, and named streams datalayers. These datalayers, along with the railroad datalayer, typically make up the base map in ArcView. You can also use the Annotation datalayer to label the hydrography datalayer.
