Description:

Abstract:

This is a 1:24,000-scale datalayer of sanitary waste water sewer service areas in Connecticut. It is a polygon Shapefile that generally outlines areas where sewer service is provided. Sanitary wastewater from homes and businesses in these areas is piped into the sewer system where it is later treated at Sewage Treatment Plants. In 1987, the Environmental Geographic Information Center, DEP compiled this information from municipal sewer system maps. Sewer service areas were mapped on 7½ Minute U.S. Geological Survey topographic quadrangle maps and digitized at 1:24,000 scale. In 1997 and 1998, the Bureau of Water Management of DEP assisted with updating the sewer service area datalayer and included some proposed sewer service areas.
